Paella
The first in the list is perhaps also the most famous. Originally Paella is a typical Valencian dish. The main ingredients are rice, fish and shellfish, haricot beans, saffron, a tomato base, pieces of chicken and rabbit, and white beans. The colors of all these ingredients together on a heated paella pan look very nice in the first instance, but the smell and the taste are even better. Do you really want to eat it the Spanish way? Tapas
We can’t skip Tapas in this list. This popular dish has found its way to many other countries because it is just too good to only eat it in Spain. Tapas is a collective name for the typical Spanish appetizers. Traditionally, they are intended as appetizers that can be eaten anywhere in Spanish cafes and restaurants. Gambas al Ajillo
These are shrimps with garlic. A simple but delicious dish. In Spain these shrimps don’t need more than olive oil, a little lemon and of course, garlic.
Tortilla Española
This Spanish tortilla is a typical dish from the Spanish kitchen. The dish comes from the midlands of Spain and can be described as a thick omelet of egg, potatoes, olive oil, salt and pepper. In addition, onion and garlic are also frequently used ingredients for the Tortilla Española. You can either eat this dish cold and hot. Crema Catalana
This is a real Spanish dessert. Originally this dish comes from the Spanish region of Catalonia, as the name suggests. This is also called the showpiece of the Catalan cuisine. The basis of this dish is Crema Catalana that consists of custard, a typical mixture of eggs and milk thickened by heating it to 80 degrees. According to the Spaniards, this is the precursor of the famous French crème brûlée. Once you have tasted this, you will recommend this dish to everyone.
Allioli
This can’t be missed in the list. Allioli is the Catalan version of the Mediterranean garlic sauce Aioli. You can’t ignore this during your stay in Spain. This is eaten so much because you can eat Allioli with so many other dishes. Eat it with, for example, bread, pasta, salads or even cold meat and fish.
