Xátiva
Xátiva is a small town 60 kilometers South from Valencia. It was one of the most important cities in the kingdom of Valencia due to the excellent location of the castle on the hill. This castle was host of many battles in the past and is actually split up in two separate castles. You can visit both and you will see how it looked like before.
Between the two castles you can rest on the terrace and enjoy the view over Xátiva.
Villajoyosa
Villajoyosa is just 10 kilometers away from Benidorm. Walk down the boulevard and go for a drink in the sun. In summer this is a perfect location to relax on the beach. Villajoyosa has a long fishing tradition and the fisherman houses on the boulevard are painted in different colors.
Chocolate addict?!
The fabric of Valor, one of Spain’s best known chocolate brand, is situated in Villajoyosa. There is a museum which is open to visit. During the tour you’ll get to know everything about this delicious chocolate.
Benidorm
If the first thing that comes in your mind is ‘Benidorm bastards’, you won’t be the only one. During winter, there will be many older people who spend a few months on the Spanish coast. Benidorm is different from other cities in Spain with its high buildings. There are many English pubs and clubs where you can dance till sunrise.
Altea
About 10 kilometres above Benidorm you will find Altea. Altea is a small town with a long boulevard that has a lot of restaurants. Up on the hill there is the old town. To get there you need to hike up through the small typical Spanish streets.
Guadalest
Guadalest is a town up in the mountains, just a half an hour drive from Benidorm. This village is built around a castle (El Castell de Guadalest). They used the castle as a defence for the Moors against the Spaniards. In Guadalest you will have a pretty view at the surroundings. In the valley you can see the reservoir that provides the region of Alicante with drinking water.
Dénia
One of the oldest towns at the Costa Blanca is Dénia. Denia has a castle that is built in the 11th and 12th century. In the centre of Dénia you will find small streets with colourful houses. Dénia has a harbour that is used for fishing and where you can catch the boat to the Balearic Islands.
